“Silent Celiac Disease” drove me into early retirement , even though — I assume— the term does not exist in the medical text books. I was constantly tired, chronically unable to swallow, habitually constipated, and counting the days until my eagerly-awaited retirement. I had been a US government employee working in Germany and loving the beer, the wurst, and the mouthwatering European bread and pastries.
