Losing Weight on the Gluten Free Diet

If you have gone shopping, picked up a magazine or read a blog recently, you are likely to have seen “gluten-free” promoted for weight loss, improved health or enhanced performance. Gluten-free has become the newest diet trend and gluten-free food sales are booming with a threefold increase in the past five years. The burning question is: Will gluten-free help you lose weight?”

I recently googled the terms “weight loss” and “gluten free” to find an answer to this often-asked question. I discovered that it is not not a burning question: every answer boils down to “don’t count on it. (Actually, there is “some” evidence that gluten free food helps mice lose weight. That’s a quick summary of the twenty top articles on the google list.)
