What’s a “Dedicated Frier?” Why Should People Who Live Gluten Free Care?

0 Comments 22 May 2015

A “dedicated fryer” is a cooker that is used only for one type of food, thus miking cross-contamination impossible. That’s the theory at least!

The theory breaks down when the “wrong” type of food is cooked in the fryer and/or when oil from two fryers are mixed together during cleaning or refilling the cookers.

To further complicate matters, French Fries is the most popular food prepared in hopefully safe fryers. Potatoes are gluten free . of course, but they may be coated with substances that are not allowed on our diet.

So where does this leave us?  I haven’t given you much help. All I can suggest that you keep these thoughts in mind whenever you see or hear the term “dedicated fryer”.
