Gluten Free vs. Gluten Friendly

The terms “gluten free” and “gluten friendly” are NOT  interchangeable.

“Gluten free” is normally defined as ‘less than 20 parts-per-million gluten’. Keep in mind that this definition  is currently enforced only in foods regulated by the Food and Drug Administration,(FDA),  primarily packaged food products.

The terms “gluten friendly” and “gluten free friendly” are newcomers in the universe of people who live gluten free. They have no no real definitions. The only thing they indicate that the operators of a certain restaurant or web site wants your to visit. They may well be worth a visit, but ……….
