More Cheers for Udi’s Gluten Free

I had my first taste of Udi’s gluten free bread ten days ago and it has radically changed my gluten free lifestyle. Even my non-celiac wife loves it, or at least the smell of it toasting (I seldom share it). Since then, I have tried the whole grain bread, two types of bagels (the first bagels I have enjoyed during this century) and the heavenly lemon strusel muffins.

I also began to wonder about Udi himself. I found out that he was born in Israel and opened his first shop “Udi the Sandwich Man” in Denver in 1994. Since then, his family businesses have grown to include a catering company, an artisan bakery, and five restaurants in the Denver area. He ventured into the gluten free world in 2009¬†after a gentleman named Chad White shared his secret recipe. Mr. White is now holds the title ‘Director of Product Development’.¬† He’s certainly earned it!

I wish I knew more about him. I couldn’t even ascertain whether or not he lives gluten free. In my research, I saw his last name listed as Bar-On and Baron. Take your pick. Here are three links to information about him. Since the titles are so similar, I’ll just refer to them as this one, that one, and the other one.

I’m glad you tried and love Udi bread. I walked into a New Life store (owner has Celiac) and complained about never buying another loaf of bread again. She directed me to Udi and told me I’d love it. She was right! I can eat sandwiches now, and you don’t HAVE to toast it. The birds wouldn’t even eat the other two loaves I threw out! I only get their bread because we are on a fairly tight budget. Maybe I’ll ask my fairy godmother for a gift card to New Life and try some other Udi items. I leave their bread in their wrapper, and then put it in another plastic freezer bag, and it lasts in my freezer for months without drying out. I tell everyone I run into about Udi bread! Thank you so much for mentioned this company!!

Udi’s is the best gluten free bread I have ever had in the last 15+ years. If you like the muffins, try the cinnamon rolls. I don’t buy them too often because of the calories. but they are beyond good!

Udi’s!! Remember the song “At Last” my love has come along etc.? Well, it now says my bread has come along. Finally a sandwich that tastes good and I don’t have to toast the bread first. And then there is toast for breakfast, and don’t get me started on the yummy muffins etc. Our local stores have a time keeping enough on the shelves and that too says something. I hope Mr. White gets his share of the pie for giving us gluten free folks a brand new day. :>)

Thank you so much for telling everyone about Udi’s products. I bought the white sandwich bread and declare it the best! After reading comments on their other items, I’ll have to give them a try also. Thanks so much to Mr. White and Udi for finally giving us back a tasty sandwich.

love your bread products, but can’t anything be done about the high price? your coupon helps, but when i tried (unsuccessfully) to print it, the reply was that i had already received more than the allotted amount???
