I recently reviewded the third edition of “The Essential Gluten-Free Grocery Guide” published by Triumph Dining. Here’s their newest list of 30,000 celiac friendly products, divided into categories that explained with symbols that deal with each product’s gluten free status. This edition of the book includes a new symbol that deals with cross-contamination. Read chapter 4 and the symbols will make sense to you.
UPDATE: I recently learned that this guide now lists 500 private label products from Walmart as well as 100 more brands than were represented in the last edition.
The publisher is honest and discerning enough to point out that no guidebook is a panecea. We must always shop defensively, reading every label every time. This book helps us succeed by pointing our attention in the right direction. As the authors of this guide say, “A guide like this should never be a replacement for your own knowledge, common sense, and diligence. This guide is intended to be a starting point…It isĀ not a substitute for reading labels and contacting companies.” Obviously, carrying the most current version of the guide increases your chances of success. The book is small enough to carry in most purses.
Triumph Dining also publishes “The Essential Gluten-Free Restaurant Guide” which lists 5000 restaurants that serve gluten free food. There are lists for all fifty states. Clicking on either of the graphics below will give you access to both of these great guides.
