The Essential Gluten Free Restaurant Guide…a Book Review
The Essential Gluten Free Restaurant Guide lists more than 5000 gluten free restaurants in all 50 states. The first section provides information that may be even more valuable — how to visit those restaurants and maximize your chances of a marvelous gluten free experience. The section lives up to its promise to tell you "How to Get a Gluten-Free Meal Anywhere!" Be sure to digest (pun intended) this information before you first gluten free dining experience.
The guide makes it clear that the use of this book does not relieve you of your responsibility to dine defensively but it does increase the chances that you will be successful. The final two sections of the guide will lead you an appropriate restaurant. The first section tells you what to do when you get there. Policies change from day-to-day, and even when the gluten free policy is officially in force, the people serving you may or may not have the training or the motivation to serve you appropriately.
You may wonder why you need the internet when you have this great book. Realistically, information in books starts becoming obsolete on the day that the book is published. My system is this: I carry this book with me when I am traveling, with my notes in the margins and my printouts stuffed inside the front and back cover.
Triumph Dining also publishes The Gluten-Free Grocery Guide, which enables you to do a super shop effectively for gluten free food. Click here to read my review of this guide. In the interest of full disclosure, I must tell you that I have a financial interest in your purchasing these guides from the website.
