Nana’s Gluten Free Cookie Bars…a Product Review
Whenever I critique gluten free food products, I need to remind myself that I have no accurate memory of what wheat-based foods taste like. I have fantasies, of course, but very few "facts". We need to work together in what I call "interactive reviews". I’ll talk more about that at the end of the article. In the meantime, here are my thoughts on Nana’s no-gluten cookies:
PRODUCT: Nana’s No- Gluten Bars (individually wrapped / available individually or in packages of five bars)
SOURCE: Whole Foods or other health food stores.
COST: Varies depending upon whether bars are purchased individually or in packages.
PREPARATION: Ready to eat.
GLUTEN FREE STATUS: Package is labeled "no gluten". Made on equipment that is also used for tree nut or peanut products.
TASTE and TEXTURE: Excellent. The fact that they are individually wrapped is at least part of the reason for their "fresh taste". Not crumbly.
OK FOR WHEAT EATERS? Certainly, although they might prefer the wheat-taste that they are used to.
PAUL’S COMMENTS / RECOMMENDATIONS: Since dozens of similar products are available, it is impossible to say which one is best. Portion control is essential to anyone’s effort to control weight, so I am certainly glad that these cookies are individually wrapped so that I can be "stop with just one".
The last three items in this review are personal opinions, and America’s gluten free community would love to hear your thoughts. Leave a comment at the end of this or any article or e-mail me at gfceliac@gmail.com
