Gluten Free Los Angeles

Comments Off 28 March 2009

Writing about gluten free opportunities in Los Angeles is no easy task. There are literally thousands of choices. Also, there are dozens of different names of places that were once separate cities but have now been absorbed into a megalopolis known as "greater Los Angeles".

Be sure to download and carry the list of Los Angeles restaurants published by The Celiac Disease Foundation. If you will be visiting the Magic Kingdom, read this article and be aware that a list of gluten free dining options is available at City Hall near the entrance to Disneyland. Having made these two general comments, I will continue this article by listing restaurants  by  community:

Costa Mesa. Skosh Monahan’s Steakhouse and Irish Pub. They have a gluten free menu as well as a children’s menu that is both gluten and casein free.

Costa Mesa. The Rib Company. These restaurants actually serve meals with gf/cf rolls and publishes a menu that is both gluten free and casein free.

Encino. California Chicken Cafe, with seven locations in the Los Angeles area. Click here to read their suggestions for gluten free dining.

Hollywood. California Chicken Cafe. For information, see their listing in Encino.

Ladera Ranch. The Rib Company. For information, see their listing in Costa Mesa.

Long Beach. The Rib Company. For information, see their listing in Costa Mesa.

Los Angeles. Bombay Bite. The gluten free menu can be accessed from this page.

Los Angeles. Deano’s Gourmet Pizza, located in the Farmer’s Market. Click here to read their pizza menu.

Northridge. California Chicken Cafe.  For information, see their listing in Encino.

Studio City. Hugo’s Restaurant. Gluten free items are indicated on the main menu.

Thousand Oaks. Fit 2b Thai. Click here to read their gluten free menu.

Torrance. BabyCakes. A gluten free bakery that specializes in muffins and cupcakes. Advanced orders are required for most purchases.

Venice. California Chicken Cafe. For information, see their listing in Encino.

West Hollywood. Hugo’s Restaurant. For information, see their listing in Studio City.

Woodland Hills. California Chicken Cafe. For information, see their listing in Encino.

West Los Angeles. California Chicken Cafe. For information, see their listing in Encino.

Whole Foods Markets and Trader Joe’s stores are available throughout the greater Los Angeles area. These stores are always a great source for gluten free food.

My plan is to write articles saluting the ten largest cities in America. I recently highlighted New York City, you have just read my Los Angeles article, I you may expect articles on Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas, and San Jose. I may add other cities if interest warrants. If you live in or near any of these cities, I would appreciate an e-mail or comment will help me share your first-hand knowledge with America’s gluten free community.
