Living gluten free is always better than the alternative and things get better each year. For example:
Uno Chicago Grill and Garlic Jim’s now offer gluten free pizzas at some of their locations nationwide. If all goes well (translation: if we give them enough business), gluten free pizza will soon be available everywhere. I can personally vouch for Garlic Jim’s pizza. Uno’s has not currently testing its celiac friendly pizza in my part of the country.
Picazzo’s Pizza and Salads has expanded beyond Arizona and I am exstatically happy that I am able to enjoy their wonderful celiac-friendly pizza in my hometown, Portland, Oregon. If I was in a position to become a restaurant operator, I would attempt to obtain one of the franchises they have available
Pizza Fusion has expanded to provide gluten free pizza in 13 states. When I reported on them for the first time two years ago, they had only two locations in Florida. They also offer franchise opportunities.
Rice Chex is now gluten free. That’s great news because we now have another gluten free cereal option that will be relatively inexpensive because it is produced by a major company and has millions of potentialo customers. I’m also glad that major companies like General Mills are now recognizing that our patronage is valuable to them. I feel the same way about Redbridge beer and its manufacturer Anheuser Busch. We need these companies. They need us.
I recall reporting to you in late 2007 that it was impossible to find a gluten free pizza in Portland, Oregon. I don’t know what happened to that article. I suspect that I deleted it in frustration. Anyway, there are at least twenty locations. Check out my article "Gluten Free Oregon".
