Like many people in Oregon and Washington, I was snowed in on Christmas Eve. Actually, it wasn’t that bad — my wife made an excellent meal from the contents of our gluten free kitchen and pantry. But it started me thinking. What would have happened if I had been marooned at an airport or bus station or in traffic jam on the freeway of even in home where my hosts were trying to meet my needs and did not plan for extra meals????
And so I made the first of several New Years resolutions. I’m going to buy at least one case of gluten free food bars. Why food bars and why a full case?
They are relatively economical particularly if purchased by the case from a store that deals with restaurants and other food-service activities.
The case is small enough to keep in the car or pack in my carry-on luggage.
Consuming a whole case of anything is a rather uninviting prospect. Actually, that is the good news. I’ll only eat the bars when I need the nourishment. I won’t do what I normally do whenever I see something that looks like a candy bar.
