"Maine has gluten free lobster". This title was used in a gluten free blogger's summary of his vacation in Maine. All seafood is naturally gluten free unless it is breaded or covered with a gluten-toxic sauce. A gluten free meal is available in most seafood restaurants with the cooperation of the chef and waiter.

I also suggest that you read this newspaper article called "Eating Out Gluten Free" which includes a list of restaurants in the greater Portland area that have gluten free menus or are willing to "tweak" dishes to make them acceptable to us.

The Great Impasta in Brunswick serves Italian cuisine and posts its  gluten free menu on their website.

Mark Anthony's in Wiscasset also features Italian cuisine and mentions on its site that "wheat free pastas are available upon request".

Julie's Ristorante in Ogunquit serves seafod and Italian cuisine and states that gluten free options are available.
