Gluten Free Hawaii

Sweet Marie’s, located in the town of Kapaa on the island of Kauai, advertises itself as the only dedicated gluten free bakery in Hawaii.

Poi, the Hawaiian dish that some people call a delicacy, is made from the root of the tarro plant and is gluten free if no extra ingredients are added. I was unable to uncover a source of celiac-friendly poi.

  There is a Whole Foods Market in Honolulu. There are Costco stores as well as WalMarts. A natural foods store chain called Down to Earth has locations on Maui and Hawaii and offers a variety of gluten free products
