Gifts for the Gluten Free Graduate

Posted on 8:10 am by Gluten Free Guy

Books make great graduation gifts, particularly for young celiacs who are suddenly becoming more responsible for their own cooking , food choices, and their food budget.  Here are some suggestions:

“Beyond Rice Cakes” was written by young lady who was finally diagnosed with celiac disease early in her college career. The book is practical and easy to follow. A young person about to embark on a gluten free college career should certainly read this interview with the author.

“Gluten Free Cooking for Dummies” has now joined “Gluten Free Living for Dummies” should be part of every young  celiac's library . Even after half a century, I remember the “dummy” feelings I had as a college freshman.  Dietary restrictions would have brought my stress level to the boiling point.. My first years after graduating college and finally becoming totally responsible for my own food choices wereeven worse.

If these books are not available locally, use these “widgets” to order from Amazon.com.

Gift cards are always welcome, particularly ones that  insure that the graduate will get an excellent gluten free meal occasionally. Chili’s has gift cards decorated with the words “Grad’s Card”.  Both The Outback Steakhouse and Chili’s have restaurants in every state and provide gluten free menus.
