Gluten Free in Rhode Island
Thinking Outside the Box

A group of celiac’s in Rhode Island has identified 35 restaurants  in their state and has scheduled monthly outings with the goal in dining in each and every one of them. What a creative opportunity to turn a chronic problem (Celiac Disease) into a monthly excuse for a party, an opportunity to meet new friends with common interests, and motivation to develop an excellent list of gluten free restaurants!!!!!  Their list includes many Massachusetts restaurants plus some in the other New England.. My congratulations to Gluten Free Friends Rhode Island. There are very few areas where your model could be copied exactly, but your concept is wonderful!

As many of you know, I am developing “The Successful Celiac’s Guide to Independently Owned Gluten Free Restaurants”. This is quite a project for a one-man operation like this site, so my Rhode Island and Massachusetts section will at least for-the-time being refer people to this group. Their first hand knowledge is better than anything I can glean from the internet while living in Oregon. Your first-hand knowledge is also invaluable.  Leave a comment at the end of this article or  use the button in the middle column to send me an e-mail.
