A gluten free Mothers Day traditionally begins with breakfast in bed. These plans are generic enough to be gluten free as long as you have celiac friendly bread available. A site appropriately called Mr. Breakfast has great ideas, includes a poem titled “Mothers are Like Omelets”., and can be gluten free if you use gluten free bread, pancake mix, and granola. A project called “Bagel Portraits” provides great family fun as well as a gluten free breakfast (if you use appropriate bagels, of course).
Here’s a link to gluten free gift baskets. The vendor will adapt the basket for Mothers’ Day or for any holiday that interests you. The Curious Cookie is a great source for the food you need to make your own gift basket. This article from The Gluten Free Pantry contains several good ideas for Mothers Day.
If mom bakes gluten free, she would probably appreciate this gift pack which includes four different bread mixes from Bob’s Red Mill.
A gift certificate to Mom’s favorite celiac friendly restaurant would certainly be a big hit. If she does not have a special restaurant, I suggest a gift card from The Outback Steakhouse, P.F. Chang’s, or Chili’s; these three national restaurant chains publish gluten free menus.
The mega-site RecipeZaar lists 1812 recipes when you search for “gluten free Mothers Day”. Wow! Making a decision about which recipe to use will probably be your most difficult problem in planning you Mothers’ Day feast.
