Your Taxes and Your Gluten Free Diet

0 Comments 31 March 2008

Can we deduct the cost of gluten free food from our federal taxes? It’s an expense, that’s for sure, but is it deductible? The short answer is “Probably” if you determine that it is worth the time and effort to do so.

I had better not say more because  I am totally unqualified to give tax advice. I’ll simply link you to three articles on the subject:

“How to Get Tax Deductions for Food” from E-How.com

Tax Deduction for Gluten Free Food for Diagnosed Celiacs Only” from Celiac.Com

Receipts, Receipts, and More Receipts” by a Blogger who will be claiming this deduction.

Good luck. If you do deduct your celiac-related food expenses, send me an e-mail or leave a comment letting us know how things work out.
