My Goals for 2008

0 Comments 01 January 2008

Like all New Year’s resolutions, I am writing these for my own benefit. Some of these goals will be changed beyond recognition in the coming year. I am publishing them in the hope that you will "keep me honest" through your comments and e-mails. This blog is strictly a one-man operation, so I am totally willing and able to shape this blog to suit your needs.

I will concentrate on rather short articles, since the search engines can’t really do a good job with articles covering several different topics. If the search engines can’t locate all the significant information, my readers will be unable to do so.

It is essential that my clients  be able to revisit articles published many months ago. A series of “index articles” and internal links will be my most important tools for accomplishing this.

In previous years, I have limited myself to facts that could be verified on-line. My visitors are interested in much more than that. I need to include more of my opinions and reactions, making sure that my visitors fully understand what I am saying. I also need to contact food manufacturers and relay their comments to my readers.

I must clearly date every item that I publish or up-date. My goal is to have nothing on the site that has not been published. verified, or updated in the past six months. In situations where this is impossible, my visitors can use the date to help them judge the appropriateness of what they are reading.

I must publish a “disclaimer” to explain the strengths and limitations of this website.

I must be more attentive to the comments that I receive, reviewing and posting them at least one a week. Wherever possible, I will base my articles on the input that I receive.

I will be very careful to define exactly what I mean when I use the term “gluten free”, using words like “dedicated facility” and “produced in facility that also processes wheat”, “declared gluten free by the restaurateur or producer”, etc.
