Gluten Free Living in Minnesota
Posted on 6:35 pm by Gluten Free Guy
Minnesota seems to be a great place to live gluten free. The Northland Celiacs gluten free support group publishes a great list of restaurants in the area around Minneapolis/St Paul. They even link you to the chance to enjoy a celieac friendly meal at a dinner theater. Click here for their list of gluten free shopping opportunities in the area. The Southeast Minnesota Celiac Support Group publishes a restaurant guide as well as a list of stores in the area that sell gluten free food. I found only one celiac friendly restaurant that does not appear on one of these lists: check out the Seward Community Cafe in Minneapolis.
Here is a link to the Minnesota ROCK (Raising our Celiac Kids) chapter . The Red River Celiacs and The Brainerd Lakes Area Celiac Support Group also post useful information.
These restaurant chains serve Minnesota. Click here to get specific locations and find out what gluten free dining opportunities are available:
Biaggi's Italian Ristorante
Chili's
Maggiano's
Outback Steakhouse
Pei Wei Asian Diner
P.F. Chang's China Bistro
Romano's Macaroni Grill
There are at least two gluten bakeries in Minnesota. Check out my "Gluten Free Bakeries" page to get information about them. If you are in the mood for a picnic lunch or home cooked meal, find a Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe's by clicking here.
If you are fortunate enough to live in Minnesota, you probably have information about celiac living that belongs in this article. If you do, please use the top button in the middle column of this page to send me an e-mail so that I can share your knowledge.

Amy :
I see that this post is a little old, but I was looking for a place to go out for GF breakfast this morning, and I ran across this site. I just wanted to add a word of caution to you or anyone reading here that the Seward Cafe is *not* careful about cross-contamination. My 6yr old got sick the first time we ate there because her GF pancake was cooked right along with pancakes containing gluten. The second time I went there I specifically asked them to clean a spot on the grill to make her GF pancake. They were rude to me about it saying, "Well, you know it will take longer if we have to do that." Their tone of voice clearly said we should go somewhere else. As I was with other people, I didn't just walk out the door, but I should have. My 6yr old's pancake took fully 10 minutes longer than anyone else's food. She did *not* get sick after eating there that time, but I won't be going back. Although they advertise gluten free food, they are not prepared to actually make sure a person with Celiacs can eat there without getting sick.
