Gluten Free Restaurants in Atlanta

8 Comments 30 June 2007

It’s easy to find celiac friendly food in Atlanta!

Two organizations serve the Atlanta celiac community and both groups publish detailed lists specifying addresses, phone numbers, web addresses, plus relevant notes. One great feature is that some entries are typed in strike out mode, which I assume means that the restaurant was once on the approved list. The Atlanta Metro Celiac Group‘s list is dated 3/5/07 and the list offered by Celiac Disease Meetup Group of Atlanta is dated 6/1/07. Because the two lists are so similar in content and format, I suspect that they were written by the same person or group of volunteers. I hope that someone from Atlanta will send me an e-mail at gfceliac@gmail.com to clarify this.

I am not going to try to add to the great work done by these two celiac support groups. Welcome to Atlanta!

  1. Hi, I am the corporate chef for Meehan’s Public House in Atlanta and I wanted to let you know that we have added a gluten free menu at our Sandy Springs location. This is not an adjusted version of our regular menu it is a separate menu designed for people affected by Celiac’s disease. Please check out our website for more information. Thanks!

I finally found a pizza place that has gluten free options. Its called Maddio’s Pizza on North Druid Hills near Emory. This is the first pizza place I have seen that carries a gluten free crust. Just an FYI…

Chequers Seafood Grill, Hammond Road off Peachtree Dunwoodie Rd (Perimeter) offers great service, fantastic food, and has a gluten free menu. We have been there three times, had good experiences all three. Nice upscale restaurant. It is good not having to settle for some version of fast food to get gluten free.

The Mellow Mushroom on Woodstock Rd in Roswell also serves Gluten Free Pizza. Their number is 770-645-8383. I’m told the meatballs, chicken and Feta have not been certified gluten free, but the other toppings are gluten free.
