The Emoticons Code

0 Comments 25 April 2007

You may have noticed the Emoticon faces at the beginning of each paragraph in  some of my most recent articles. The little yellow faces brighten things up a bit — and I am glad they do  — but  they also communicate information:

These paragraphs are introductions and transitions. My English teachers used to call these "topic sentences".

These paragraphs give you useful information. Hopefully, this face reminds you of someone giving you wise advice.

Obviously, these paragraphs contain good news. Generally they lead you celiac-friendly products.

This, of course, is the bad news — products or foods to avoid.

This guy looks confused. I use him at the beginning of paragraphs where I am asking you make a decision.

I hope this helps. I know it helps me make sure that each article "covers up all the bases". It also helps "lighten things up". Celiacs deserve to have fun.

While we are on the subject of this site’s appearance, please excuse the odd font coloring in the first paragraph of some articles. My computer guru assures me that this will be corrected "soon". This Emoticon seems to be embarassed. So am I when I look at those articles.
