Controlling Gluten and Calories
Posted on 2:49 pm by Gluten Free GuyWhen I was diagnosed with celiac disease, I jumped to the conclusion that all gluten free food was good in any quantity. Actually, that advice was not totally wrong. The first priority for celiacs is living the gluten free lifestyle. We ignored most other advice and consumed lots of multi-vitamin pills. I enjoyed the first twenty pounds that I gained (I had been underweight for several years) and ignored the second 20 pounds. But suddenly I realized that the extra weight was slowing me down tremendously. I also realized that there were dozens of different theories of weight loss and that some of them were even more complicated than my gluten free diet. I decided to go back to the old fashioned basic plan — reducing calories. The book shown at the top of the page was very helpful. Most other cookbooks list the number of calories in a single serving. Most books cover that as well — and the size of a serving is a lot less than I thought. I think all weight-loss dieters have the same problem. Good luck! Let me know how things turn out. I'd love to add celiac-friendly weight loss tips to this blog. Click on the picture at the top of this post to learn more about this book. The Gluten Free Mall has many other great books in the same section.
