Gluten Free Wish List Part 2 — Please Use Those Celiac-friendly Oats

0 Comments 01 March 2007

Apparently, there are oats that have been tested and found to contain less than 10 parts million gluten, thus fitting the definition of "gluten free". That’s great news for celiacs who (or were) used to cooking with oats. This information does not help me much. I’d love to hear about a brand of oatmeal cookie that is made with gluten free oats, or a type of granola that I can stomach. Wheat free cereal is relatively easy to find, but there are often oats in those cereals. Why can’t someone market a cereal made from oats that have been certified safe for us? Here’s your link to the first part of my Gluten Free Wish List. Keep the comments coming — perhaps if we express our wishes clearly enough we can get some action.
