I am the owner of a dedicated wholesale gluten free bakery in SE Portland. We are supplying gluten free bread, hamburger buns, and hot dog buns to quite a number of restaurants in Oregon and Washington including all the McMenamin's locations. We also sell our products retail at Lamb's Markets, Lingonberries Markets, New Seasons, two Whole Foods and one Market of Choice. Check out our website for a list of restaurants who serve our great gluten free breads and buns.

There is now a completely gluten free food cart - GF Chef - located at the Green Castle Food Court at NE 20th & Everett. We serve Breakfast and lunch items and will soon be serving dinner also. Chef Jim makes his own bread and pasta items using recipes that he has developed since being diganosed as a Celiac 6 years ago. He is also meticulous about verifying that all ingredients used in his recipes are gluten free. Check out Yelp to see comments, then come visit our cart.

I have been searching online for this information and I have only found confusing and poorly written articles until now. This is the best and easiest to understand article on this topic I have found.

There are 3 great options that I don't see mentioned here:

1) Deschutes Brewery & Public House: They brew a gluten-free beer and it is available in the pub ON TAP!! And they have an excellent gluten-free pub food menu including burgers that are to die for!

2) Thai Fresh: This place is on Division near 82nd. When you arrive they let you know right away (without prompting) that everything is made from scratch and that they can accommodate special diets. And they carry Redbridge, so you feel even more at home!

3) The Rheinlander/Gustavs: Request a gluten free menu. They even have a gluten-free schnitzel option. And they carry St. Peter's Sorgham Beer, which is one of the best gluten free beers I've had.

Fenouil in the Pearl District just introduced a new menu that has a large selection of Gluten Free options available. NOTE: I e-mailed this restaurant asking for confirmation of its gluten free status on 2/06/11. I will include this in the main section of this article as soon as I receive this confirmation.
