Gluten Free at Whole Foods Market

UPDATED 7/21/07 Whole Foods Market publishes complete lists of qll the gluten free foods that they offer. These lists are particularly useful because they are not generic — each store has its own list. Be sure to print out this list before you visit the store. There is no specific gluten free section, celiac-friendly bread is shelved with other bread, etcetera. This can be a bit overwhelming if you are not prepared. Click here to download the list that you need. You will need to use the pull-down menus to select the store that you will be visiting and the food list that you will need (in our, the gluten free list).

THIS ARTICLE HAS BEEN REVISED,EXPANDED AND MADE PART OF A LARGER ARTICLE ABOUT SHOPPING FOR GLUTEN FREE FOOD IN CONVENTIONAL STORES. CLICK HERE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MOVE TO THIS ARTICLE.

There is a wide variety of food and everything is very attractively displayed. Their bakery section includes items from "The Gluten Free Bakehouse", a bakery that serves the entire Whole Food Market chain. The baked-goods on display were certainly tantalizing but a bit "pricey" for anything but a very special occasion. Perhaps they will be part of my Christmas feast.
